Government agencies, private sector leaders, and health authorities urge expanded disinfection health services to strengthen national biosecurity and protect Ghana’s ports and entry points.

Stakeholders from the biosecurity, health, and port-management sectors have called for the expansion of disinfection health services across Ghana’s ports and points of entry to enhance national preparedness and prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
The call was made during a stakeholder engagement meeting attended by representatives from the Ministry of Health, the Ghana Health Service (GHS), the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA), private sector solution providers, and other relevant agencies. Participants emphasized that strengthening disinfection protocols would significantly improve Ghana’s capacity to detect and mitigate public-health risks, especially at high-traffic border points.
Stakeholders commended the ongoing collaboration between the Ghana Health Service and LCB Worldwide in delivering structured biosecurity and disinfection operations, noting that the service has already contributed to safer port operations and reduced cross-border health threats. They further urged government agencies to scale up these services, citing their importance for national resilience, trade safety, and crisis-management readiness.
The meeting concluded with a unified appeal for policymakers to prioritize and resource expanded disinfection operations, ensuring Ghana remains adequately protected against emerging biological risks and global health threats.
